back to the beginning...
i was reminded the other day why i began this blog...to write. guess what? i'm not writing! i've been using it more as a travelogue rather than a writing platform. not that a travelogue is bad, it's not, but i need to be better at using this blog for it's original purpose.
i was chatting with an author the other day about collaborating on a book...i have a super great idea, just no time or talent to write. he told me that as great as collaboration is, I need to tell my own story...that it won't be easy, but that no one knows my story better than i do. (wow. he has a point.) finding the time (and the place) to write is not easy for me...in order to be successful, i cannot be distracted by ANYTHING. maybe a little background music, but that's about it. i need to be able to get "in character." at my house, everything is a distraction. there is not one place i could go (be?), where i wouldn't be interrupted by beautiful children, ringing phones and doorbells, arguments, televisions, and just plain noise.
SO...HOW do i do this, write-my-own-story thing??? WHERE do i do this, write-my-own-story thing??? how do i make others understand that i'm "working" and not hiding????

field trip
so yesterday we (david, colby & i) took a field trip to...
we wanted colby to feel familiar with things before he decided for sure that was where he wanted to go. we had cute tour guides...sarah & tucker, who took us EVERYWHERE! colby even got to see a couple of examples of "on" and "off" campus housing. some of the "off" was closer to the school than the "on." i think he also got a good feeling for what was "clean" and "not clean," and to always keep your apartment at school CLEAN. you never know when the campus ambassadors might stop by for an impromptu tour. after the tour we grabbed some lunch and headed home, but not before we made a quick detour a few miles south.....
isn't that pretty? it looks very cool with all the changing leaves around it. beautiful.

interesting jeana tid-bit
just in case anyone is remotely interested....this is day three of pepsi-less-ness for me. :D i'm impressed with myself!
family tragedy
this post may seem familliar to some of you...that's because we've experienced this before! today was a sad day at our house (although we handled it MUCH better than last time...) we lost our beloved hamster, peanut butter.
after several tries to revive her, we decided she was indeed, deceased. we gathered together the necessary burial items...comfy, padded box; flannel blanket for the chilly winter ahead; food (just in case...you know) weed extractor (couldn't find our little hand shovel); and headed out to the burial plot. the one we selected just happened to be right next to coco (the other hamster that passed away a few months ago). i was the only pallbearer (as no one else wanted to hold the box. ewwww, ick!), linzi was the bishop over the service, and austyn was the photographer.

we dug (slowly, it was a weed extractor after all, not a shovel), lined the grave with leaves to keep out the moisture (my idea :D) and placed the box lovingly into the hole. linzi and kyler said a few choice words over the grave, and we covered her up. our selection of grave markers was limited as it was VERY windy and beginning to rain. we grabbed the nearest stick and carefully placed it at the head of the grave.
rest in peace peanut butter, we love(d) you!

my saturday...
i got to spend the day today with my cute friend, kati. kati is five-years-old. after a bike ride around the neighborhood, we decided to have a picnic on the front step.
for lunch we had blueberry yogurt, chex mix, drinks and airheads. (don't tell her mother...) we decided that the above wasn't enough to eat, so we made a few bugs to eat, too.
