field trip!!!

yesterday i had the distinct pleasure of accompanying linzi and her fellow fourth graders on a field trip to...(photo taken from a moving school bus, please excuse the lovely stop sign...)

the weather was less than ideal, but it was tolerable. the mucky conditions made for very enthusiastic handcart pulling :)

after the "trek" we headed to the schoolhouse where the boys learned that "ladies ALWAYS go first." you have to answer questions standing with hands together and feet positioned correctly. if you choose to misbehave, you will stand in the corner with your nose touching the wall. it was a wake up call for some of them. especially the "ladies ALWAYS go first" bit.

after school we stopped by the tin shop and learned how to make cups, dust pans, candle holders, and punched art.

next we were off to the social hall where we danced the virginia reel. after they got over "holding hands" and sa-shaying, they had a great time. we worked up an appetite and headed to the dining hall for lunch. linzi likes to play with her food...
during cleanup, i realized my retainer was missing (!!!), so linzi and i dumpster dived and luckily found it. linzi was covered with mustard, but she was richly rewarded :) we hosed her off in the restroom, and literally RAN to the bus.
this is a picture of us heading TO the park, i wasn't nearly so cheery on the way home. i don't know what it is about field trips, i always come home with a migraine... :)

That looks cold! It seems like a foreign country since we have the a/c running in the house already. Looks like a great fieldtrip!

ha ha. Little was a TOTAL understatement! (At least for me) It is a relay race from Logan to Park City!! What was I thinking??? There are 12 of us so I will run 3 different times. It will equal like 16 miles. Sheesh! I will be to say I did it. (As long as I survive:) I am sort of excited. It is in June.
